FAQ

What is your worship service like?

Jesus said, "God is a Spirit and they that worship him MUST worship him in spirit and in truth."  John 4:24
The Scriptural format for Christian worship:

  1. Prayers of faith  I Cor 14:15
  2. Congregational singing  Eph 5:19; Col 3:16
  3. Contribution  I Cor 16:1-2; II Cor 9:7
  4. Communion  I Cor 11:23-29; Acts 20:7
  5. Teaching  I Cor 14:23-40; Acts 20:7

These items constitute the scriptural pattern for worship, plainly stated.  Thus:

  1. We offer prayers without candles, beads, etc.
  2. We sing without instrumental music.
  3. Our contributions are free-will offerings on the first day of the week.  We do not require members to tithe ten percent.  There's no such commandment in the New Testament.
  4. We commune on the first day of EVERY week, not just selected occasions.  Every week has a first day.  We use the elements of unleavened bread and fruit of the vine.
  5. We meet in the assembly (husbands, wives, and children worship together as a family).  Only men may teach in the public assembly.  I Cor 14:23; I Tim 2:11-13
